Walter W. “Wally” Bator, age 78, of Belleville, IL, born on January 4, 1943, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, surrounded by his wife and kids at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.
Wally was a United States Air Force Veteran. He worked as a truck driver for Jack Cooper Transport for more than 20 years, and as a bartender for Jack’s Place in Caseyville, IL, and for the P.A.W.V. for many years. Wally was a former Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, a member of the P.A.W.V., and a Teamster in Local #886. He was an avid Cardinals fan, a member of Old Farts with Darts, enjoyed playing Farkle, board games, and a grill master (especially pork steaks).
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Bator; his great grandson, Jaxson Walter Jones; and his parents, Walter W. and Gladys L, nee Horner Bator.
Wally is survived by his wife, Linda Peterson Bator, nee Beasley; his children, Michelle Gomez, Christa (Tim) Miller, Cynthia (Robert) Dyche, and Mike (Nikki) Peterson; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Mykayla, Deserae, Angel, Anthony, Destiny, Morgan, Katelynn, Bobby, Alyssa, Colton, Michael and Alex; his great grandchildren, Jayden, Jace, Sophia, Faith, Timery, Drew, and Haylee; his brother, Joe (Shirley) Bator; and his dog, Little Bit.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 12 noon at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
