Virginia "Ginger" L. Mackin

Virginia L. “Ginger” Mackin, age 84, of Belleville, IL, born on July 19, 1937, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Monday, January 3, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family.  

Ginger was a homemaker.  She was a member of Cathedral of St. Peter, Belleville, IL, Loyal Order of the Moose, #1221 in Swansea, IL, and devoted all her time being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Kay Foley; her parents, Clark and Marcella, nee Robinson, Shultz; her sister, Jean Grace “Dee Dee” Brock; and her brother-in-law, Harvey Lee Brock.

Ginger is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Mackin; her sons, David (Melanie) Mackin, Steven (Maria) Mackin, her son-in-law, Kevin Foley; her grandchildren, Patrick (Vanessa) Foley, Timothy (Ali) Foley, Matt (Jackie) Mackin, Douglas (Christina) Mackin, and Thomas M. Mackin; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made in the form of masses to Cathedral of St. Peter, Belleville, IL.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Cathedral of St. Peter, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. John Myler officiating.  Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
