Steve Hornacek, Sr., age 71, of Waterloo, IL, born on April 16, 1952, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Mercy Hospital South, St. Louis, MO.
After serving in the United States Marine Corps, he was an auto technician with Sunset Ford in St. Louis, MO for 18 years. He enjoyed his place at Lake Camp-A-Lot in Percy, IL and “Poppy” loved his children and adored his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy J. Hornacek, nee Walsh; his parents, Joseph Frank and Mildred Eleanor, nee Roustio Hornacek; his brothers, Bob Moore, Wayne Moore, and Jim Moore; and his sisters, Pat Johnson and Barbie Kovacevic.
Steve is survived by his children, Karen J. Daniels of Waterloo, Steve M. Hornacek, Jr. of Waterloo, and Heather J. (Richard) Norman of Waterloo; his grandchildren, Karleigh, Hailey, Kennedy, Anna, Megan, Paisley and Steven; his dear friend, Jeanne; his brother, Joseph “Butch” (Karen) Hornacek of Caseyville, IL; and his sister, Peggy Maher of Belleville, IL.
Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, Columbia, IL.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL, with Fr. Carl Scherrer officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens of Memory, Fairview Heights, IL.
