Robert J. Belba, Sr., age 73, of Fairmont City, IL, born on July 21, 1948 in Dennison, OH, died on Friday, December 31, 2021 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.
Bob was a Sargent in the US Army. He was deployed to Vietnam where he was awarded the Silver and Bronze stars. He was a volunteer fireman for Fairmont City for 32 years and served as chief for 25 years. He most recently served on the Board of Trustees as Fire Commissioner. He loved his fire career and was an advisor to many departments in the area. He also loved Bob the Minion and his lottery scratch offs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles L. and Betty M., nee Sterling, Belba; and two brothers, Charles Belba and James Belba.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jacquelyn, nee Mueller, Belba; his children, Christina (John) Hahs, of O’Fallon, IL, Robert J. Belba, Jr., of Fairview Heights, IL, and Edward A. Belba of Fairview Heights, IL; his grandchildren, Jessica, Zachary, Jeffery, and Jacob; his great grandchildren, Lydia, Tahlia, and Kayden; and his brothers, Gary L. Belba of Fairview Heights, IL, and Michael (Mike) Belba of Ft. Walton Beach, FL. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL, with Father Jim Buerster officiating. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
