Richard C. Palmer

Richard C. Palmer, age 93, of Fairview Heights, IL, born on March 4, 1929, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at his residence.   

Richard was a 1947 graduate of Central Catholic High School.  He served on the St. Albert the Great School Board for many years.  Richard was also a lector and choir member.  Later, he coached his daughter’s softball teams.  Richard tried to attend as many of his grandchildren’s athletic contests as possible.  He was a diehard St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan.  Richard was employed by John Clay Comm Co., for 27 years, Hartford Fire Insurance for 18 years, and National Stock Yards.  He worked as an usher and Room Captain at Busch Stadium for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Palmer, nee McCann; his granddaughter, Deanna Palmer; his son-in-law, Michael Weiss; his  parents, Bruce Augustus and Mary Emma, nee Giedeman, Palmer, Sr.; and his siblings, Bruce Palmer, Jr., Loretta (Santo) Puglisi, and Mary (Arthur) Tucker.

Richard is survived by his children, Michael (Norma Hosto) Palmer, Sr., of Collinsville, IL, Brian Palmer of Fairview Heights, IL, Mark Palmer of Fairview Heights, IL, Laura (Chuck) Stowers of Collinsville, IL, and Michelle Weiss of Damiansville, IL; his grandchildren, Michael Palmer II (Erica Rasure), Nancy (Robert) Hall, Cierra Palmer (Jerry Barton), Zachari Palmer, Danielle (Cory) Bradshaw, Mark Palmer, II, Mitchell (Katya) Palmer, Greyson Stowers, Adam Stowers, Will Stowers (Terry Fawcett), Caleb (Nicole) Weiss, and Elijah Weiss; 7 great grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Lenna Palmer.

Donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Holy Trinity Building Fund.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 14, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00  a.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.

Funeral Service on Monday, November 14, 2022,  at 11:00 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL. Interment will be in Mt Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
