Loretta (Buese) McEvilly

Loretta McEvilly, nee Buese, age 86, of Millstadt, IL, born on July 21, 1931 in St. Louis, MO, died on Tuesday, June 27, 2018 at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, IL.

Loretta grew up in East St. Louis, IL and was a 1949 graduate of St. Teresa’s Academy.  She married Jerry McEvilly on June 23, 1956 and the two traveled the world together extensively.  She adopted her late daughter’s friends, Noreen, Kelli, Donna, Maggie and Carol and treated them like her own. Loretta was a loving mother and a great friend to all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry D. McEvilly; her daughter, Monica J. McEvilly; her parents, Conrad and Mary, nee Schwane, Buese; her sister, Margaret Allen, and her brother, Herman Buese.

Loretta is survived by her children, J. David (Barbara Portugal) McEvilly of Belleville, IL, Chris J. (Linda) McEvilly of Millstadt, IL and Dr. Brian C. McEvilly of Vacaville, CA; 3 grandchildren, Nick, Andrew and Garret McEvilly; her cousin, Carol Fritz of Belleville, IL and her sister-in-law, Lillian McEvilly of Indianapolis, IN.  She is also survived by loving nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

Memorial mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 2018 with Msgr. Jack McEvilly officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be held in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
