Kathleen Patricia “Kitty” Kinkel, age 77, of Troy, IL, was born on March 5, 1945, in East St. Louis, IL. She was the loving daughter of Kathleen and Jerome Foley. Kathleen was called home to be with her heavenly Father on January 31, 2023.
Kathleen attended St. Philips Grade School in East St. Louis, IL and Notre Dame Academy in Belleville, IL. She married Thomas R. Kinkel in 1966 at St. Philips Church, East St. Louis, IL.
She began her working career at Hayman’s Restaurant in Troy, IL, and then went to earn her Real Estate License and served many homeowners through the Century 21 Harrison Group. Kathleen retired after 26 years of service to homeowners and the community. She was an outstanding sales associate in the Harrison Group and enjoyed meeting her clients and finding them the perfect, new home.
After she and Tom retired, they took trips to Hawaii, Florida, Minnesota, Alabama, Lake of the Ozarks, Branson, and Arizona meeting with family and friends. Kathleen had friends in the area and was never without a kind word or a helping hand. She was a member of the St. Jerome Catholic Church in Troy, IL for many years.
On October 3, 2016, Tom and Kitty were surprised when they were given a 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary party by their daughters, Julie and Elizabeth, along with their son, Timothy and his wife, Carla. It was held at Fisher’s Restaurant in Belleville, IL for their family and friends. A wonderful time was had by all, and Kathleen taught all of us that the love of family and friends is life’s greatest gift. She will be dearly missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kathleen M. and Jerome T., nee Clifford Foley; her sisters, Ms. Honora Foley, Mrs. JoAnne T. (Thomas) Murphy; her brothers, Jerome “Butch” Foley, Daniel J. Foley, and John Foley; and her brothers-in-law, Frank Kinkel and Theodore “Ted” Kinkel. Also, remembering her special friends, Kathleen “Kathy” Foley, and Barbara Foley with love.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, Thomas R. Kinkel; her daughters, Julie M. Kinkel and Elizabeth Ann Kinkel; her son, Timothy M. (Carla) Kinkel: her brother, Edward Patrick (Sharon) Foley; her sister-in-law, Donna Kinkel; her granddaughters, Sierra Alvarez, and Cecilia M. Kinkel; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL.
