Joan M. (Wegrzyn) Callis

Joan M. Callis, nee, Wegrzyn, age 79, of St. Louis, MO, formerly of Granite City, IL, born on March 20, 1939 in East St. Louis, IL, died on Monday, April 16, 2018 at her residence.

Joan participated in local charities and was recently a diva host for Food Outreach.  She was also a political activist.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anna, nee, Flak, Wegrzyn; and her siblings, Anna Walentia, William J. Wegrzyn, Lottie LeVanti, Helen Patterson and Chester J. Wegrzyn.

Joan is survived by her husband of 54 years, Felix “Lance” Callis of St. Louis, MO; her children, Mona S. (Dale Erspamer) Callis of Troy, IL, Ann E. (James Holloran) Callis of Troy, IL, Melissa Mary Callis of St. Jacob, IL and Phillip Lance Callis of Granite City, IL; her grandchildren, Michael, Anna, Nora (Phil Adams), Elliot, Caroline, Anna, Ava Rose and Juan Manuel; and her 6 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd, Fairview Heights, IL.

Funeral service will be at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018, at Kassly Mortuary Chapel, Fairview Heights, IL with Fr. Chris Collins, S.J officiating.  Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
