Jeanette M. Viner

Jeanette M. Viner, age 92, was born on September 25, 1929, in East St. Louis, IL and entered eternal rest on January 21, 2022, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Calvin ”Kelly” Viner; parents, Prosper and Irene, nee Geppert, Jerome; her sisters, Doris (Albert) Arcynski; her brother, William (Mary) Jerome; and great granddaughter, Sophia Marie Swanson.

Surviving are her children, Thomas C.  (Mary) Viner Sr., of South Bend, IN, Richard (Cheri) Viner, of St. Louis, MO, Nancy (Jim) Carson, of Hilton Head, SC, Barbara (Joe) Means, of Alpharetta, GA, Elaine (Bryan) Schumacher, of Sunrise Beach, MO, Michael (Marlene) Viner, of Belleville, IL, and Carol (Tim) Rapp of Aviston, IL; grandchildren, Thomas (Michelle) Viner Jr., Susan Viner, Beth Swanson, Philip (Katie) Viner, Jason (Shannon) Viner, Jessica Viner, Austin Viner, Grace and Adam Rapp; step-grandchildren, Brandon (Amanda) Rapp and John (Emily) Rapp; great grandchildren: Briggs, Brooks and Braxton Viner, Alex and Amanda Swanson, Molly and Conor Viner. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeanette graduated from Dupo High School in 1947. She was a retired clerical secretary for Illinois Bell and Southwestern Bell. Jeanette was a proud Catholic who actively practiced her faith at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fairview Heights, IL. She enjoyed quilting, bowling, playing cards and working through word puzzles. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attending family gatherings. Jeanette will be deeply missed by her family, friends and caretakers. Her family is at peace knowing she is fully retired in heaven with her other family and friends who have also gained their wings.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.

Visitation will also be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL with Fr. Jim Nall officiating.  Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
