James L. Gale

James L. Gale, age 95, of Belleville, IL, born on June 21, 1922 in Jacob, IL, died on Monday, February 12, 2018, at The Arbors of Parkway Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.

James was an Inspector for over 37 years at Ford Motor Company.  He was a member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church and a former member of St. Phillip’s Catholic Church. James was an avid gardener and loved fishing and woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite T. Gale, nee Becker; his son, John Gale; his daughter, Marion Gale; his granddaughter, Shannon Schmidt; his parents, Francis and Lucy, nee Davis, Gale; and his siblings, Raymond Gale, Lloyd Gale, Francis Gale, Freeman Gale, Samuel Gale and Helen Mifflin.

James is survived by his children, Jacqueline Schmidt of Belleville, IL, Charlotte (Dale) Sisk of Fayetteville, GA, Martin Gale of Townsend, DE, Connie (Al) Minks of Florissant, MO, Matthew Gale of Calera, AL, Phyllis (Barry) Steimel of Kirkwood, MO, Roger Gale of Belleville, IL and Doug (Tamara) Gale of Smithton, IL; his grandchildren; his great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd, Fairview Heights, IL.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018 St. Henry’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Kenneth J. York officiating.  Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.
