Hedwig K. Witschorek

Hedwig K. Witschorek, nee, Klingenberg, age 94, of Caseyville, IL born on December 2, 1925 in Frankfort, Germany, died on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at her residence.

Hedwig was a homemaker and was a former member of Our Lady of Assumption Church, and currently Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  She loved gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Witschorek; her parents, Eduard and Martha Klingenberg, nee, Von Rekowski; her brother, Bernd Klingenberg; her sister, Gertrud (Trutchen) Poehl; and her brothers-in-law, Heinz Grunwald, Friedel Schuetz and Willi Poehl.

Hedwig is survived by her children, Wolfgang “Bernie” (Brenda) Witschorek and Karen Smith; her grandchildren, Jeanne (Robert) Norris, Kimberly Smith, Kevin (Kotsil) Smith; her great-grandchildren, Madison Norris, Quintin (Makenna) Norris and Everdeen Smith; her sisters, Erika Grunwald and Hilde Schuetz, and her sister-in-law, Ria Klingenberg. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Private family chapel services will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd. Fairview Heights, IL.
