George Winfield “Winn” Pardee, age 91, of O’Fallon, IL, passed away on April 28, 2023, at Memorial Hospital, Shiloh, IL.
Winn grew up in Charlotte, MI. He graduated from Michigan State University with a direct commission into the United States Army where he served in Guided Missiles and Ordinance Procurement. Most of his military career was spent in the Detroit Air Defense Command. Upon discharge, as a Captain from the Michigan National Guard, he stayed in Detroit working in the banking business. In 1963, he moved to a banking position in Belleville, IL. From the late 1970’s until his retirement he worked in an interior design firm specializing in hotels, restaurants, and high-end country clubs. Winn also started a small design/construction firm in 1982. He was very active in the Episcopal Church, serving at parish, diocesan and national levels. Winn loved music and served as a church choir director. He was a talented vocalist and sang two solos at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis, MO. Winn was the Former District Governor for the Rotary District 651 and was active in the Foreign Student Exchange Program. Winn was a master gardener. He enjoyed photography, woodworking and of course, gardening.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Nanette; his biological father, George W. Pardee; his parents, Hilding E. and Lucille Krusell, nee Bullock; his brother, Hilding Krusell, his sister, Mary Hadley; his son-in-law, Jim Malan;
Winn is survived by his wife, Sally; his daughters, Barbara (Keith) Rogers, Liz Pardee (Gavin Matheny), and Mary Malan; his step-children, Eric (Debbie) Joelner, Elizabeth (Michael) Mortka, and Keith (Ellen) Joelner; 15 grandchildren, Katie, Matthew, Zachary, Max, Megan, Molly, Jason, Jonathan, Kyle, Adam, Jackson, Douglas, Conor, Keith and Camille, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 111 O’Fallon Troy Rd., O’Fallon, IL.
Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, O’Fallon, IL. Military Honors will follow Memorial Service at church.
