Evelyn Diane Bates

Evelyn D. Bates, age 69, of Granite City, IL, died on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Evelyn was a homemaker and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed helping raise her autistic grandson, Jacob.

Evelyn was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Scott Corbitt, her parents, Kenneth and Evelyn, nee Vincent, Childers; a grandson, John S. Corbitt, III, a great-grandson, Talon Scott Corbitt; and a sister, Judy White.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert Bates, Sr; her children, John (Launa) Corbitt, Jr., of South Roxana, IL, Cassy Rose of Granite City, IL, Bobby Bates of Granite City, IL, Robert Bates, Jr., of Vandalia, IL, Sean (Jennifer) Bates of Vandalia, IL and Shannon (John) Collins of Waldorf, MD; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a sister, Brenda (Richard Craig) Roberts of Granite City, IL; a brother-in-law, Larry White, Sr., of Granite City, IL; and an aunt Shirley Pollard of Granite City, IL.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights,IL.

Funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL with Pastor Dan Duff officiating. Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery, Granite City, IL.
