Denice Baker Obituary

Denice Baker, 61, of Godfrey, IL, passed away April 29, 2018 at Siteman’s Cancer Center with her family by her side.

Denice was born on February 28, 1957 in East St. Louis, IL. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother.  When her three children were young she spent many summer days playing whiffleball in the yard with all the neighborhood kids. Rainy days were spent around the table playing Trivia Adventure. When her children were a little older she worked at Save-a-Lot in Mascoutah and then Wal-Mart in Belleville and then Wood River.

Her number one joy in life was fishing with her husband Boots. They fished many bass tournaments together and later enjoyed fishing at Kinkaid Lake where they had a site. When not at the lake she enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her 8 grandchildren.

Denice was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Crane, her paternal grandparents, Ura and Inda Crane, and maternal grandparents, Virgil and Lucille Kean.

Denice is survived by her husband, Warren L. “Boots” Baker III, her parents, Harvey and Nancy Crane, her brother, Dennis Crane, her children, Warren L. “Buddy” (Missy) Baker IV, Erica (Doug) Quevreaux, Dani (Travis) Haegele, grandchildren, Breann, Taylor, Logan, and Kadyn Baker, Valerie and Bradley Quevreaux, and Mackenzie and Harper Haegele, brother-in-law Blaine (Barb) Baker, sisters-in-law Lisa (Steve) Moore, and Kathy (Scott) Foster; nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the March of Dimes Foundation (www.marchforbabies.org/team/DeniceBaker ) in honor of Stevie and Stella Gaisford, Lisa and Steve Moore’s grandchildren, Missy and Dylan Gaisford’s daughters.
