Connie Sue Haege

Connie Sue Haege, nee Stokes, age 67, of Swansea, IL, born on July 27, 1956, in, East St. Louis, IL, died on March 28, 2024, at Evelyn’s House, Creve Coeur, MO.

Connie was a Registered Oncology Nurse at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL and The Cancer Treatment Center in Swansea, IL. In over 30 years as a nurse, she helped care for and comfort countless individuals and families dealing with difficult medical struggles.  She always put other’s comfort and care before her own up until her final days.  Her favorite role, however, was that of grandmother.  She enjoyed spending time with family whenever she could and cherished a lot of memorable moments watching her family grow.

She was preceded in death by her children, Benjamin Schwab, and Kelly Schwab; her parents, James and Margaret, nee Windmoeller Stokes; and her siblings, Judy Boyle, Diane Rheinecker, and Mark Stokes.

Connie is survived by her husband, Bruce Haege; her children, Matthew (Briget) Schwab of Arlington Heights, IL, Jason (Joyce) Haege of Tyler, TX, Jeana (Keith) Smith of O’Fallon, IL, and Jaime (Jason) Welsh of Pittsboro, IN; her grandchildren, Jack & Kaitlyn Schwab, Ethan & Grace Haege, Cole & Lilly Smith, Xander, Noah, Ella and Liam Welsh; her brother, Kenneth Stokes (Cheryl Rongey) of Fairview Heights, IL; and her former daughter-in-law, Jeanette Haege, of St. Libory, IL.

Memorials may be made to Evelyn’s House.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.  

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd, Fairview Heights, IL with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.  Interment will be held in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
