Betty J. Greene

Betty J. Greene, age 89, of Belleville, IL, born July 2, 1928, passed Monday, April 2, 2018.

Betty worked 20 plus years and retired from K-mart in Belleville, IL. She loved camping, playing bingo and making her famous chocolate chips cookies that she gave buckets to all her kids and grandkids every Christmas. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, who will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Hellen, nee Heiser, Thompson; a son, Larry Greene; two brothers, Elmer and Eugene Thompson; two sisters, Ann O’Flarhety and Ester Payne; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Anne Greene.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Harry E. Greene, Sr; her two sons, Lester (Terry) Greene and Harry E. Greene, Jr; her sister, Sally (Art) Dixon; her grandchildren, Bill (Brittny) Greene, Christopher Greene, Steven (Jaime) Greene, Robyn (Richard) Riley, Patrick Green, Logan and Jordan Greene; her great-grandchildren, Isabela, Liam, Jessy, Faith, Samuel, Colin and Tristan; a great-great granddaughter, Raina; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or to V Foundation for Cancer Research.  

Friends may call from 10:00A.M. to 12:00P.M. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL.  

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Kassly Mortuary Chapel, Fairview Heights, IL.  Interment will be in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
