Adrain Wendell Baum, Sr., age 89, of Caseyville, IL, born on March 3, 1928 in East St. Louis, IL, died on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Caseyville Nursing and Rehab, Caseyville, IL.
Adrain was retired from the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad, where he worked for 38 years. He was a World War II Air Force veteran. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Clerks, and the Murphysboro Lodge No. 642. Adrain liked to camp and fish and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J., nee Holt, Baum; his son, Allen Wayne Baum; his parents, Adam “Butch” and Elsie, nee Pollock, Baum; and his siblings, Anna Baum Smith, Bernard Baum, and Melvina Baum Smith.
Adrain is survived by his children, Andrew James Baum of Addieville, IL; Arron Lynn Baum of Addieville, IL; and August L. Baum of Pinckneyville, IL; and his sister Aileen (Alvin) King of Caseyville, IL He was our dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and cousin.
The family would like to thank the staff at Knollwood Senior Living Center in Caseyville, IL for their compassionate care of Adrain.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Allen Baum’s memory.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd, Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd, Fairview Heights, IL with Reverend Ralph Williams officiating.
Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
