Zadell H. Blunck

Zadell H. “Dell” Blunck, age 86, of Troy, formerly of O’Fallon, IL, born on August 4, 1940, in Royal Oak, MI, died on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT.

Dell was born in Michigan and later met her husband, Kurt in the United States Airforce at Scott Airforce Base.  She was very proud of her registered nursing career and of earning her Flight Wings.  Dell and Kurt were instrumental in forming Bethany Lutheran Church in O’Fallon, IL.  She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Kurt G. Blunck, USAF Retired; and her parents, Oscar and Marialice, nee Hilliard Hysmith.

Dell is survived by her children, Heidi (Steve) Clark of Salt Lake City, UT and Christopher Blunck of Troy, IL; her granddaughters, Madeline Marie (Eric) Henry, Emma Elizabeth Clark, and Erica Anne Clark; and two great granddaughters, Evelyn Henry and Elaine Henry.

At the family’s request, memorials and flowers are not needed.

A Roadside Committal Service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO, with the funeral procession leaving at 12:45 p.m. from Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL. Zadell will be laid to rest with her husband, Kurt.
