Yarmilla Powell

Yarmilla Powell, age 95, of Fairview Heights, IL, born on November 9, 1927 in East St. Louis, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023.

Yarmilla was a proud homemaker, she enjoyed raising her children and watching her grandchildren grow. In her younger days, she enjoyed her free time sewing and crocheting, and going along to watch her husband play music.

She was preceded  in death by her parents, Anton and Johanna (Keck) Hylsky; Husband, Robert H. Powell; two sons, Bruce and Gary Powell; brother, Edward Hylsky and sister Helen Raffety.

Yarmilla is survived by her children, Darryl (Sybil) Powell, Lynette (Chris) Cash, and a daughter-in-law, Sherry Powell; grandchildren, Darryl Powell, Savannah (Jason Cordova) Powell, Mikhael (Eric) Anderson, Trevor (Sara) Cash, Zachary (Heather Gluecklich) Cash, Roxanne (Kyle) Guthier; great grandchildren, Morgan Raylene Williams, Gentry Lynn Anderson, and Easton Lee Anderson and a great grandson on the way, Kaden Michael Guthier.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2023, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL.

Interment will be to follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
