William L. "Pops" Sykes

William L. “Pops” Sykes, age 87, of O’Fallon, IL, born on February 26, 1938, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Memorial Care Center, Belleville, IL.

William was previously President of Kasco Co., then was the President of Archway Saw Service until his recent retirement.  He enjoyed yardwork and loved playing golf with his buddies.  Pops also enjoyed nights out with his grade school buddies, Ron, Larry, Joyce, Joanne, Sylvia, Gerie, Barbara, Art and Debbie.   

William was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony (Marie) Sykes and Lossie Morehead Plummer; and his brother, Ed Sykes.

William is survived by his wife, Jacque Sykes, nee O’Brien; his children, Kim (Bob) Schroeder of Fairhope, AL., Keith (Chris) Sykes of Traverse City, MI., Tony (Melissa) Sykes of Traverse City, MI, and Steve (Julie) Panek of Mascoutah, IL.; 10 loving grandchildren, Jordan (Leslie) Runner, Justine Schroeder, Julia Schroeder, Jaylee Schroeder, Star Reiman, Evan Sykes, Kayla Giger, Kelly Sykes, Micah Panek and Zach Panek; 4 loving great-grandchildren, and his sister-in-law, Barbara Sykes.

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

A private family gathering will be held at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.
