Wallace J. "Wally" Reamer Obituary

Wallace J. “Wally” Reamer 81, born May 21, 1939 in E. St. Louis, IL passed away on January 15, 2021 in Belleville, IL after a short illness.

Wally attended E. St. Louis High School and was a retired autobody man. He was an all-around car guy and was happy to share his skills with whomever was in need. He was The Founding Father of The Lake of Egypt Bums and The Apple Dumpling Gang. A longtime member of the IHPA, The Millstadt Horseshoe Club and a frequenter of the Taterdome & The Legion. He enjoyed watching sports, fishing, pitching horseshoes, shooting pool, playing his machines, and golfing with his friends, son and sons-in-law who often ended up in the doghouse after the 19th hole.

Wally loved his family and his large extended family. Nothing brought him a smile like an off-key sing along of “Family Tradition” surrounded by family and friends with a beer in his hand. He truly lived life to the end.

He leaves behind his daughter, Tammy Reamer (Dave Parker), daughter, Kelly and son-in-law, Chris Louvier; son-in-law, Larry McLean; and his Loving Neighbor Kid, Julie Clark; his stepdaughters, Melissa (Dave) Mothershead and Dana (Scott) Kraut and families; his brother Wilbur (Marynelle) Reamer; his former wife, and mother of his children and friend Pat “Memaw” Reamer; grandchildren, Mikey (Laura), Andy, Shanan (John), Christina (Devin), Patrick (Emily), Eric (Shannah), Christopher, Roxie (Rick), and Marky; his great-grands, Ryan (Taylor), Avery, Addie, Anna, Peyton, M.J., Jude, Beck, Demi, Noah, Ellie, Delaney, Everly, Wrenly & Cadence; and one great-great grandson, Ollie Gene.

Wally will remain in the hearts of all that knew him, including his special cousin, Bonnie Reamer; longtime friends, Ernie, Dave, Kenny, Dennis, Tater, Buschman and Suzy just to name a few his friends at American Legion Post 1255; and his many Horseshoe friends all of whom he considered family. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, outlaws, and friends.

Welcoming him when he crossed over were his parents, Horace & Joe Vera (Jackson) Reamer; uncle George (aunt Kate) Reamer; brother Joe “Bub”, Pat, Mark & Stevie Reamer; beloved daughter, Jodi McLean; and son, Randy Reamer; granddaughter Mandy; and many family and friends that preceded him.

Wally’s wishes were to be cremated with no formal service held. He wanted a BIG party instead. In light of Covid restrictions, and when the time is right, we will all gather at his favorite saloon, The American Legion Stookey Post 1255, to share memories, stories, smiles, tears and toasts to celebrate the life of this legend. Details to be determined in the near future and will be posted for all to share.
