Virginia Grybinas Obituary

Virginia J. Grybinas, nee Wickel, beloved wife of the late Zigmas Grybinas passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025. She quietly departed this life at her home in O’Fallon, Illinois. In addition to her beloved husband Zigmas, she was preceded in death by her father, Theodore and her mother Mary, nee Mikulait and several aunts and uncles.

Virginia was fond of telling her children how she met their father Zigmas Grybinas. They met at a Lithuanian dance and every time they’d exchange partners, he’d squeeze her hand. She knew he liked her. They were married on February 9, 1952, and celebrated 65 years of marriage before his passing in September 2017. They were blessed with six children, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren and a lifetime of wonderful memories. Virginia was the epitome of a strong, loving, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law. Her children and grandchildren and their families were her pride and joy. She never hesitated to let everyone know how proud she was of all of them. Though small in stature, she was a strong woman and through her example of quiet inner strength she taught each of her children to face life’s challenges. Her love and influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her, especially her children and grandchildren.

She earned her degree in Education but chose to dedicate herself to raising her children. After the children were in school, she worked as a floor manager at Scandia Restaurant in Famous Barr and made lifelong friends there.

She was a faithful member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church for many years and served in several leadership positions as well as being a member of the Dorcas Society. She cherished her church family and the many friends she had there.

Her life will be forever cherished in the lives of  her children: Dalia Grybinas-Lee (Ray Lee), Loretta Grybinas-Goodin (widow of William Goodin), Tomas Grybinas (Kim), Kristina Brophy (Bill Brophy), Jonas Grybinas (Dellice Martin), Linas Grybinas (Luz Diana), grandchildren Stasha Goodin (Will Spaulding), Sean Goodin (Hernan Bello), Josh Brophy Grybinas (Patrick Grybinas), Dustin Grybinas (Rhianna), TJ Grybinas (Kaitlin), David Grybinas, Anthony Grybinas and great-grandchildren Nolan and Elise Spaulding, TJ Grybinas, and Goldie Grybinas.

Our hearts have been made to rejoice during the illness and passing of our loved one by the many acts of kindness extended to our family. Your prayers and all expressions of love and sympathy are greatly appreciated. May God’s blessings of peace and love continue with you forever.
