Virgil L. Kemp, age 78, of Caseyville, IL, born on July 19, 1943, in Columbia, IL, died on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at his residence.
Virgil was a graduate of Collinsville High School, a United States Army Veteran, and a boilermaker for more than 35 years. He was a member of Boilermakers Local #363, and a former member of the VFW in Caseyville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Norma, nee Ballard, Kemp; and his siblings, Scott Kemp, Bud Kemp, Carol Bowen, and Ronald Kemp.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Rita H. Kemp, nee Cissell; his children, Scott (Laurel) Kemp, Adam Kemp, and Melissa Kemp (fiancé, Mario Clark); his grandchildren, Bella, Lincoln, and Owen; and his siblings, Rose Stark, Roy Kemp, Stanley Kemp, and Judy Smith. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with Military Honors at 7:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.
