Tommy L. Balentine

Tommy L. Balentine, age 66, of Caseyville, IL, born on July 10, 1959 in East St. Louis, IL, died on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.   

Tommy retired as a police officer from the East St. Louis Police Department after many years of service. He later worked as a security guard at Granite City Steel Company. He enjoyed taking his family on camping trips to Carlyle Lake. He liked hunting for morel mushrooms and loved to fish so much he was nicknamed “Cat Daddy.” He was a volunteer fireman for the Hollywood Heights Volunteer Fire Department, Caseyville, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents Doyne and Stella, nee Thompson, Balentine.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Nancy, nee Dye, Balentine; his children, Dawn Balentine of Gallatin, TN and Dakota Balentine of Caseyville, IL; his stepdaughters, Angie Hurtz of Mt. Vernon, IL, and Michelle Hurtz of Washington, Park, IL; two grandsons, Hunter Balentine and Arlo Caldwell; his brother Doyne Balentine of Caseyville, IL; his niece, Christine Balentine; and his nephew, Brian Balentine.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Hollywood Heights Volunteer Fire Department, 1214 Hollywood Heights, Road, Caseyville, IL,
