Timothy J. Thompson

Timothy J. Thompson, age 76, of Fairview Heights, IL, born on July 30, 1949, in St. Louis, MO, died on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Tim was a graduate of Assumption High School in East St. Louis, IL and St. Benedict’s College in Atchison, KS.  He was a letterman in soccer at both schools.  Tim retired from United Parcel Service after a 30-year career.  After retiring, he spent 16 years as a substitute teacher at O’Fallon Township High School.

He loved all sports, especially soccer, hockey and golf.  He was a loyal fan of the St. Louis Blues and Cardinals.  An avid golfer, he passed on the tradition of the TTT Golf Tournament which celebrated its 50th year in May.

Married to his wife Susan, for 52 years, he was a devoted husband, father and Pa-Pa.  Tim took great pleasure in attending the various activities of his grandchildren and living life to the fullest.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dolores, nee Maher Thompson; and his brother, Joseph Thompson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan, nee Lucido Thompson; his children, Tim (Trisha) Thompson of O’Fallon, IL, and Abby (Rich Harris) Thompson of St. Louis, MO; four grandchildren, Alexis, Mackenzie, Gage and Timmy; 3 great grandchildren, Kaiden, Jaxyn, and Charlotte; and his siblings, Mike (Mimi) Thompson of Medina, OH, Nancy (Ken) Schley of North Ridgeville, OH, Kathy Brusstar of Doylestown, PA, and Larry (Karen) Thompson of Bolingbrook, IL.

Memorials are preferred to Catholic Urban Programs or to the Holy Trinity Building Fund.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.

Visitation will also be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL.

A Mass of  Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL, with Fr. Carl Schrage officiating. Cremation will follow services.
