Tim R. Curtis, age 53, of Belleville, Illinois, formerly of Bartelso, Illinois, died on July 9, 2025, in O’Fallon, Illinois.
Timothy R. Curtis was born on April 24, 1972, in Ogden, Utah. Tim was raised as a military child. His family first lived in Utah, then moved to Japan, where he spent his early years until the age of 5. The family eventually settled in Bartelso, Illinois, where Tim grew up. As a child, Tim developed a passion for baseball, enjoyed playing with his brothers, and even had a rebellious streak, notably in his love for “wrecking cars” as his mom would say. Over time, Tim found spiritual fulfillment by joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, later serving a two-year mission.
After returning from his mission, Tim married Anne-Marie, the love of his life. In 1997, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. While stationed in New York, Tim and Anne-Marie had their first child, Tyler. They later had two more children, Madison and Emma, while stationed in Kansas, and a fourth child, Trevor, while in Washington State.
Tim's military career spanned 13 years, with multiple deployments: twice to Iraq, and one remote tour to Korea. His service was marked by sacrifice and dedication, but after more than a decade of service, Tim transitioned out of the Army in 2011.
Following his military career, Tim faced significant challenges due to his toll of service. Struggling to find stable employment, he eventually pursued a career he had always loved --- driving. In 2017, Tim earned his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and worked as a shuttle bus operator at Lambert Airport in St. Louis and an Uber driver.
Tim was most proud to be a father and grandpa, even meeting his first granddaughter recently.
Tim will be deeply missed by his family and friends. We will hold his memory forever in our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence W. Curtis, Jr., and his brother, William Curtis.
Tim is survived by his wife, Anne-Marie Curtis, nee Longwell; his children, Tyler (Mara) Curtis of Utah, Madison (Scotty) Coon of Edwardsville, IL, Emma Curtis of Belleville, IL, and Trevor Curtis of Belleville, IL; his granddaughter, Sophie Curtis; his mother, Cheryl Curtis of Bartelso, IL; and his brothers, Terril Curtis of Pueblo, CO. and David Curtis of Bartelso, Illinois. Tim was our dear son-in-law, brother-in-law, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend.
