Shirley Y. Buss

Shirley Y. Buss, nee Nelson, age 84, of O’Fallon, IL, born on October 25, 1938, in East St. Louis, IL., died on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.

Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt.  She loved God, family, friends, fishing and watching the Cardinals.  Shirley worked at the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) for years.  She had her own restaurant, worked as a bartender and was also a beautician.  Shirley had a giving heart, and she never met a stranger.  She would give them her last dime if they were in need.

She was preceded  in death by her great grandchildren, Brayden Canterbury, and Jordan Cooper; her parents, Rev. George and Kathryn, nee Schramm Nelson; and her siblings, Charles Nelson, Virginia Cobb, Margaret Young, Georgia Gildehaus, and Gerry Friederich.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Charles J. Buehler; her daughter, Veronica S. (Marcel) Koenig; her grandchildren, Jennifer Canterbury, Heather Narten, Aimee Hunter, Emily Koenig and Daniel Koenig; 9 great grandchildren; her stepchildren, Charles J. (Julia) Buehler, Jr., and Angela K. (David) Barajas; and her step grandchildren, David J. Barajas, Andrew (Erin) Buehler and Nicholas Buehler.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL, with Rev. Hal Santos officiating.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Trenton, IL.
