Robert L. Martin

Robert L. Martin, age 85, of Collinsville, IL formerly of Belleville, IL, born on October 18, 1938, in Belleville, IL, died on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Alton Memorial Rehab and Therapy, Alton, IL.

Robert started working at a young age to support his siblings and family.  He worked 47 years as a welder at Empire Stove Company in Belleville, IL.  He loved Cardinal baseball, fishing, gardening, and any kind of DIY projects.  He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Martin, nee Asher; his sons, Robert “Bob” Martin, and Donny Martin; his parents, William and Dorothy, nee Stoll Martin; and his siblings, Archie Martin, Bill Martin, Marie O’Donnell, Bradley Martin, Ricky Martin, and Laurel Martin.

Robert is survived by his children, Terry (Michelle) Martin of Windsor, IL, Mary Ann Martin of Phoenix, AZ, Danny (Crystal) Martin of Gloucester, VA, and James (Melissa) Martin of Granite City, IL.  His brothers, Ronnie (Bev) Martin of Belleville, IL and Dennis Martin of Portage, IN.  He is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.  

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd, Fairview Heights, IL with Rev. Dave Seaton officiating.  Interment will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
