Richard S. Flannery, age 66, of Collinsville, IL, born on May 22, 1957, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Rich was a 1975 graduate of Assumption High School and worked for the Federal Reserve for over 30 years. He was also an avid sportsman and loved playing and watching all sports. He also attended the St. Louis Symphony, and the Black Repertory Theater, St. Louis, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Verna Lee, nee Watkins and William Patrick Flannery; and his cousins, Tommy Canavan, Tony Cholet, Patty Canavan, and Angie Canavan.
Rich is survived by his sister, Jeri L. Summers; his niece, Erica L. Summers; and his cousins, Mary Flannery, Eugene Canavan, John Canavan, Mary Brisk, Richard Carter, Doug Cholet, Cathy Rodriguez, Mary Ulery, Chris Watkins, and Cheryl Weir.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Belleville, IL., with Msgr. Henry Breier officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
