I just learned of Richard's passing. I had been wondering why he had not posted for awhile on CnL, sadly now I know why. We had chatted often and talked of meeting in person, but I never made the time to do so. Now I wish I had. He told me briefly about his career but I did not realize it was impressive as it was. He is still remembered and missed by his friends at CnL, myself included. It was my privilege and pleasure to consider him a friend. Condolences to his family who he spoke of so often and so lovingly, e,g. his regular visits he looked forward to so much. God bless and keep you all and may he rest in peace in assurance of life everlasting.

Interacted with Jack on a topical forum. We shared some commonality in
our profession, which we explored.
I considered Jack a friend, and we enjoyed many like minded exchanges.
He was a very good man, and will be sorely missed, always.

He is so missed at Crooks and Liars, the website. He was the soft voice everyone leaned in to hear. People noticed he was missing and we found out this was why, so we're very sad and shocked over there, that General Jack D Ripper has left us.
He was so friendly and had scored my email a few months back--I feel like I've known him years, though we never met in person. If you crack his email, you'll find me asking where he is. Probably many others too, because he was friends with most everyone on the board.
He regaled us all with stories of his traveling, his work, photography, and of course, his family, his nieces and nephews who he loved madly. He found goodness in the most unlikely places as well. His posts were all that and more.
Goodbye my friend.
