Raymond Waggaman Obituary

Ray L. Waggaman, age 83, of Glen Carbon, IL, born on November 19, 1942, in St. Louis, MO, died on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

Ray was a United States Air Force Vietnam era Veteran.  He retired from East St. Louis Police Department as a Patrolman.

Ray was a devout catholic who loved his family dearly.  He was a quiet, quick-witted man with a huge heart.  Despite his joking manner and sarcasm, anyone could rely on him for assistance or a friendly cup of coffee and a laugh.  Ray loved scenic drives, watching golf, Cardinals and Blues games, and football. His attention to detail in every aspect in his life reflects in his family, devotion to his religion and his yard (because anyone who knew him will always remember his well-manicured yard).

Ray will be dearly missed but forever remembered by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, nee Ruhland Waggaman; his parents, Raymond and Moneta, nee Costello Waggaman; and his siblings, Robert Waggaman, Thomas Waggaman, and Patrick Waggaman.

Ray is survived by his children, Jimmy (Mandy) Waggaman of New York, Jennifer (Jeff) Henry of Glen Carbon, IL, Katie (Rob) Sanson of Glen Carbon, IL, and Bobby Waggaman of Glen Carbon, IL; his grandchildren, Mya Henry, Joelee Henry, Connor McRoberts, and Evelyn Waggaman; and his loving great-grandchildren, Salem and Leia. He was our loving uncle, cousin, and friend.

Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors Project.
