Paula Sue Smith

Paula “Susie” Sue Smith, 59, of Swansea, IL, born on November 25, 1966, at Scott Air Force Base, IL, passed away on March 25, 2026, peacefully at her home.

Susie spent her life caring for her family and friends; they were her whole world. She especially loved spending time with her grandson, nieces and nephews and watching them grow. She worked at Jack in the Box for many years, along with being a loved and well-known cook at The Arbor Room, in Belleville, for 10 years before retiring. If you knew Susie, you would always know what she was thinking and exactly how she felt about something or someone. Her bold, yet funny and caring personality will be deeply missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert “Bob” and Marilyn Roy, and her grandparents, Clyde and Eva Horner.

Susie is survived by her daughter, Jamie Smith; grandson, Cobi Smith; nieces and nephews, Kaylyn, Morgan (Dee), Kelsey, and Kierstin Kneedler, Ashlee, Amiee, and AJ Manly; great nieces and nephews, Kody, Kaydee, Zander, Ryan, Colten, Tydus, Kole, and Lily; sisters, Shelly (Jimmy) Kneedler, and Rhonda (Tim) Manly; her dearest friend, Sonda Starr; dearest Uncle Larry and Aunt Vickie Horner; and her furry and feathered friends, Emma, Keke, and Ozzy.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL.
