Patrick J. Keeley

Patrick J. “PJ” Keeley, age 92, of Belleville, IL, born on May 28, 1929, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Cedarhurst Memory Care of Waterloo.

PJ was the President of Keeley & Sons and worked there for 70 years.  He was a member of the Southern Illinois Contractors Association, American General Contractors of Illinois, Maur Hill Endowment, St. Clair Country Club, and Chairman of the Board of Maur Hill Prep.  PJ was an avid golfer, had a membership at Ironwood Country Club in Palm Desert, CA, Bob O’Link in Highland Park, IL, and St. Clair Country Club where he was a 15-time club champion.

PJ was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Lou Keeley, nee Holten; his sons, Mark Keeley and James Keeley; his grandsons, Charles DeLong and Patrick Keeley; his parents, John L. and Viola, nee Peterson, Keeley, Sr.; his brother, John L. Keeley, Jr.; his stepdaughter, Ann Misik; and his stepson, Terry Ellis.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Keeley, nee Bosco; his children, Patrick (Sue) Keeley, Kathy (Bruce) DeLong, Karen (Mark) Ebel, Peggy (Jim) Steck, Tim Keeley (Ashley McBride), Mary Kocour, and Jamie (Van) Cailteux; his brother, Henry Keeley; his stepchildren, Michele Misik, and Joellen (Larry) Hoeser; 28 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.  PJ is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL.

A funeral procession will leave Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL on Friday, August 20, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Belleville, IL., with Fr. Matt Elie officiating.  Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
