Michael T. Costello, age 77, of Belleville, IL, born on October 9, 1945 in East St. Louis, IL, died on Friday, November 25, 2022 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.
Mike loved his family and loved politics. He was a proud Democrat who believed in the principles of the Democratic Party. He worked on political campaigns since he was a teenager. He ran and was elected to the St. Clair County Board of Review in 1974, at age 29. He served on the Board of Review until he was elected to the position of Recorder of Deeds of St. Clair County in 1984 and proudly served until his death.
Mike's laughter was contagious, his heart full of Irish gold. He never met a stranger and lived life to the fullest. He loved jokes, the laughter of a good party, and always wore a smile. He loved his family dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel E. and Elsie, nee Moore, Costello, Sr; his granddaughter, Cailyn G. Thompson; two sisters, Delores Gonzalez and Patricia Lindsay; and two brothers, Joseph Costello and Daniel Costello, Jr.
Mike is survived by his wife, Patrice, nee Muench, Costello; his children, Teresa R. (Mike) Thompson, and Jessica M. (Matt) Mader; his grandchildren, Madeline Thompson, Jacqueline J. Thompson, Ashlynn G. Thompson, Finley M. Mader, Riley P. Mader, and Wesley D. Mader; his brother, Congressman Jerry (Georgia) Costello; and many loving nieces and nephews.
