Mary M.Chucalo, nee Hepler, age 94, of Belleville, IL, born on March 4, 1930, in Corry, PA, died on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Memorial Hospital, Shiloh, IL.
Mary enjoyed being a member of the Twin Club as a young adult. Her first job was at International Shoe where she learned to use an addressograph. That was a key skill needed for her 30-year career working for Communication Workers of America. She was on a bowling team as a young adult, loved cooking, sewing and crochet. In recent years she loved playing bingo and has won many quilts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Chucalo; her parents, Harry B. and Marguerite, nee Clark Hepler; and her siblings, Frances “Elaine” Hepler Eller, Robert Hepler, Harry “Paul” Hepler, Lyle Hepler, and Mary’s twin sister, Anna Groll.
Mary is survived by her children, Linda C. (Dan) Unger of Elizabethtown, KY, and Velda (Henry) Chucalo Mowry of Valencia, CA; her grandchildren, Karen B. Alexander, Paul R. (Becky) Anderson, Christopher A. (Alley) Mowry, Michael A. (Brianna) Mowry, and Lauren A. (Eric) Kendera; her great-grandchildren, Preston I. Collins, Brooke A. Collins, Logan R. Anderson, Jack A. Anderson, Maximus G. Anderson, Liam N. Anderson, Payton E. Mowry, Camdyn G. Mowry, and Sloane L. Kendera. Mary is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral Service will be on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL., with Pastor Ben Godard officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
