Mary Ellen Wondolowski, nee Loyet, age 69, passed away peacefully at her home in Collinsville, IL, with her beloved husband, Ed, by her side on December 29, 2023.
Mary was born on April 2, 1954, in Belleville, IL. She attended St. Clare Catholic School and was a 1972 graduate of O’Fallon Township High School. Mary and Ed were married on April 9, 1976, and remained very devoted to each other throughout their marriage. She was an amazing decorator and a wonderful cook, providing a beautiful home for the two of them and their fur babies. Mary was the epitome of elegance and good taste. She could dress to the nines looking so glamorous in her fashionable hats, accessories, and the latest styles. She was very proud of Ed and supported his many years of volunteer work with the Polish American War Veterans and his Honor Guard service. Mary was an auxiliary member, volunteering to help with the PAWV picnics and Christmas parties for the children, providing first visits to see Santa for many of her nieces and nephews. She had a giving heart, was a great listener, and a keeper of many secrets. Mary loved Jesus and prayed daily for the safe keeping of many, including her many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many great-great nieces and nephews. They loved and cherished their “Aunt Mary” and she will be missed by all of them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Hilda, nee Kapp Loyet; her brother, Merril Loyet; and her sister, Lois, nee Loyet Carson.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Edmund J. Wondolowski; three brothers, Russel (Elaine) Loyet, of Naples, FL, Glenn (Kathy) Loyet of O’Fallon, IL, and Michael (Collette) Loyet of Highland, IL; two brothers-in-law, Michael (Sally) Wondolowski of Shiloh, IL, and Mark (Trudi) Wondolowski of Collinsville, IL; nieces and nephews; and many other dear friends.
The family would like to give thanks to BJC Hospice for their loving and professional care to Mary.
