Mary E. Steele

Mary E. Steele, age 71, of Millstadt, IL, born on January 22, 1953, in Belleville, IL, died on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at her residence with her family by her side.

Mary was a former bookkeeper with George Weber Chevrolet in Columbia, IL.  She previously worked for Allstate Insurance Company and kept in touch with her “Allstate Girls.”  Her proudest moments were the birth of her grandchildren. She loved feeding and identifying her backyard birds that came to visit her feeder.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David K. Steele, who died on October 4, 2023; her parents, George “Henry” and Virginia, nee Green Holle, Sr.; and her sister, Cora Weber.

Mary is survived by her children, David E. (Candace) Steele of Millstadt, IL and Tina R. Miller of Lebanon, IL; 4 grandchildren, Hudson Edward Steele, Lauren Harper Steele, Jasmine Nicole Miller and Zachary Taylor Miller; and her siblings, George “Butch” Holle, Jr., Charles “Chuck” Holle, Karen Thomas, Lou Ann Morris, Linda Sue Holle and Margie Holle.  Mary is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Memorials are preferred to Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL with Pastor Ron Habermehl officiating.  Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
