Mary Alice Wessel

Mary Alice Wessel, age 91, of Columbia, IL, born on March 1, 1933, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at her residence.

Mary Alice was a secretary for Mercantile Bank and Trust in St. Louis, MO for over 20 years. She was a devout catholic, was very humble and frugal, and loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Wessel; her parents, Edward and Ida Mae, nee Reineger, Engelhard; and her siblings, Edward Engelhard and Ida Mae Fleming.

Mary Alice is survived by her children, Mary Lynn McTearnen of Columbia, IL, and Jeanette Ronan of Walnut Hill, IL; and her grandchildren, Robert (Kelly) McTearnen of Columbia, IL, Sean (Cindy) McTearnen of Culver City, LA, Jaime Isenhart of Chicago, IL, Chris Isenhart of Pinckneyville, IL, and Sarah Stutes of Pinckneyville, IL.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 12, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Columbia, IL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday August 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Columbia, IL with Msgr. Carl Scherrer officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
