Mary Newell Obituary

Mary “Sue” Newell, age 87, of Fairview Heights, IL, born on October 12, 1933 in Cairo, IL, died on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at her residence.

Sue grew up and attended school in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was a flight nurse for 10 years in the US Air Force retiring as a Major in 1969. She was a co-owner of Kwik-Kopy Printing Co, Fairview Heights, and Belleville locations. She enjoyed playing golf. Sue was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL and was devoted to her faith and to her family.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph S. and Ruby E, nee Smith, Haney, her sisters, Colleen Reading, and Shirley Cunningham.

She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Newell; her daughter, Lisa Anne (James) Linnemeier of Belleville, IL; her son; Peter Jay (Lisa) Newell of Belleville, IL; her grandchildren, Eric Linnemeier, Nicholas (Lynette) Linnemeier, Phillip Linnemeier, Adison Newell, and Emily Newell; sisters, Kathryn Halter of Anna, IL and Betty McClanahan of Fairview Heights, IL.
