Margaret Baumgartner, nee Baker, age 91, of Caseyville, IL, born on June 18, 1931 in East St. Louis, IL, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023.
Margaret loved nothing more than raising her five children and watching all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She was a graduate of St. Teresa Academy in East St. Louis. Margaret went on to work for her husband’s insurance agency and then as a secretary for General American Insurance from 1984-1994. She enjoyed cooking and was an active member of St. Stephen Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Altar Sodality. Originally a fan of St. Louis Browns baseball, she then became an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Baumgartner; her parents, Joseph and Rita, nee Kelley, Baker; stepfather Daniel O’Hara and a sister, Virginia (Bill) Wickham.
Margaret is survived by her children, Mary Sue (George) Noeth, Mark (Elizabeth) Baumgartner, Connie (Ron) Throm, Peggy Baumgartner, and Mary Kay (Allen) Smith; her grandchildren, Chris (Ashley), Matt (Ashley), Susie (Mark), Jeff, Mike (Emily), Katie, Joe (Lesly), Maggie (fiancé Sam), Pete, Daniel (Kayla), Alex (Jessica), and Julia; and 8 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Stephen Catholic Church or HSHS Home Care.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL.
A funeral procession will leave Kassly Mortuary at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023, for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caseyville, IL. Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
