Linda J. Lyon Obituary

Linda Jean Lyon, age 82, left this life to be with the Lord on Monday, February 12, 2024 while surrounded by loving family.

Linda was born July 18, 1941 in Jonesboro Arkansas to the late Elizabeth Russell and Raymond Robinson. She was blessed to share 43 years of marriage with Harold Ray Lyon, who precedes her in death. Also preceding her are sisters Joy Robinson and Sheila Webb as well as brother Ray Robinson.

She is survived by her son, Douglas Lyon of O’Fallon, IL, daughters Lisa (Jim) Scott of Collinsville, IL, and Deborah (Gregory) Churchill of O’Fallon, IL; four treasured grandsons, Stephen (Brittany) Scott, Matthew (Christine) Scott, Brandon (Brittney) Churchill, and Blake Churchill; and 5 great grandchildren Vance Ray, Chase Scott, Palmer and Stella Churchill, and Quinn Scott; and step-sister Sharon Saultz. She is also survived by sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, and nephews with whom she shared special bonds.

Linda was a beloved daughter of Christ, wife, sister, mom, g-ma, and granny. While illness had been increasingly limiting, the g-ma we remember most never missed an opportunity to share a “love you loads,” a last-minute supper invitation, a weekend at Carlyle, a game of cards, a long talk on the phone, or a family vacation. Her family was her pride, and her love could be measured in quality time and pounds of home-made beef jerky (packed, of course… into the smallest possible container).

Her family is abundantly grateful for her care providers, especially the staff at Siteman Cancer Center, her primary care provider, Lucy Elliot, PA-C, and Doug, whose daily care allowed her to fulfill her heart’s desire to remain at home throughout her illness. Above all, we are thankful for the assurances of Christ, which guaranteed her the ultimate homecoming.

Memorials may be made to O’Fallon First Baptist Church, 1111 East Highway 50, O’Fallon, Illinois 62269.

The family held a private Celebration of Life and interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
