Laurel J. Martin

Laurel J. Martin, age 69, of Collinsville, IL, born on September 2, 1952, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Monday, August 1, 2022, at her residence with her family by her side.

Laurel a devoted mother, grandmother and caretaker of many, graduated from BTHS East. Laurel spent many years working with and as advocate for those with special needs. She later went on to work and retire from Belleville Memorial Hospital, where she worked as a CNA. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bradley E. Martin; her son, Kenneth Pratt, Jr; her daughter, Almeda Pratt; her grandson, Michael Pratt; infant granddaughters, Destiny and Gabriella; and her parents, Harold L. Thompson, and Marie P. nee Schreiber Thompson.

Laurel is survived by her children, Angel (Steve) Pierce, Laurie Campbell, Danny (Sherry) Pratt and Rebecca Galvan; 17 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; her stepmother, Frieda Thompson; Robert Martin; her siblings, Dianne (Ricky) Clinton, Michael Thompson, David (Etta) Thompson, Gary Thompson, Kathy (Oscar) Aguirre, John Ratcliff, and Mark Ratcliff; and her fur baby, Sassy Dog. Laurel is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Memorials can be made to the American Red Cross.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL. 

Funeral Service  on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL with Rev. David Seaton officiating.  Interment will be held in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
