John E. "Jack" Polites

John E. “Jack” Polites, age 91, of Belleville, IL., born on October 15, 1930, in East St. Louis, IL died on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at St. Paul’s Senior Community, Belleville, IL.

Jack was a veteran who served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He graduated from Central Catholic High School, Class of 1949, in East St. Louis, IL and worked for Tubular Steel, Inc. before starting Edison Pipe & Tubing, Inc. An avid golfer, Jack was one of the original stockholders in Clinton Hills Golf Course in Swansea, IL. His joys in life included spending time on the golf course, weekends at the Lake of the Ozarks, and Sundays at Busch Stadium and Edward Jones Dome watching the Cardinals and St. Louis Rams, respectively. More than anything, however, he enjoyed spending time with his four children and six grandchildren.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia L. Polites, nee Halloran; and his parents, John and Mary, nee Crane Polites.

Surviving are his children, John (Kay) Polites of Richmond, TX, Mark (Monica) Polites of Las Vegas, NV, Dan (Terri) Polites of O’Fallon, IL, and Greg Polites of Chesterfield, MO; his grandchildren, Nicole, Jared, Jonathan (Erica), Dan, Taylor, and Justin (fiancée Hailee Smith).

Memorials may be made to St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O’Fallon, IL.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O’Fallon, IL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O’Fallon, IL with Msgr. William Hitpas officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
