John K. Witthauer

John Kyle Witthauer, age 64, of Collinsville, IL, born on June 5, 1959, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, died on Saturday, October 15, 2023, at his residence.

John was a racehorse owner/trainer at Fairmount Park Racetrack, Collinsville, IL. He dedicated his life to raising and training thoroughbred racehorses. John was a member of the National Horseman’s Benevolent and Protective Association (National HBPA). He was a great father, grandfather and a simple man who loved to fish.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Beverly, nee Field Witthauer, and his nephew Cody Witthauer.

John is survived by his son, Kyle Witthauer (Johnna) of Caseyville, IL; his grandsons, Declan John Shaw and Owen James Witthauer; his brother, Steve (Laura) Witthauer of Collinsville, IL; and his aunt and uncle, Burt and Sally Witthauer of Nebraska.

Following a private cremation, a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
