Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Monday, January 15, 2024, at age 92. John Julius Czaicki was born on February 27, 1931 and raised in Fairmont City, Illinois.
John served in the U.S. Navy (1950-1954). He started his career with Southwestern Bell as a lineman, served as Vice President at his Local for the Communications Workers of America, and retired from Illinois Bell as a building maintenance supervisor. Afterwards, John obtained his real estate license and sold residential properties.
He was an active member at St. Augustine of Canterbury Parish, served as a troop leader for the boy scouts, was a member of the Holy Name Society, volunteered at fundraisers, and managed the food pantry. He was an officer and member of the Polish American War Veterans organization and Honor Guard and served as the president and member of the St. Adalbert Cemetery Board.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Antonia, nee Dabek, Czaicki; his brothers, Joseph, Stanley, and Walter; his sisters, Mary, and Anne; and a granddaughter, Nancy Czaicki.
Surviving family members are the love of his life, his wife of 68 years, Joann, nee Sheroky, Czaicki; his four children, Rose Czaicki Brower, John (Diane) Czaicki, Joseph (Karen) Czaicki, and Walt (Kathleen) Czaicki; grandchildren, Patrick Brower, Brian (Kelly Wilkins, fiancé), Brett, Stephen, Brendan (Holly), Jacob, Allison (Bobby) Daly and Sarah Czaicki (Chandler Brown, fiancé); and great-grandchildren, Vivienne Brower, Henry Brower and Grace Daly. He was a wonderful father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great-uncle, brother-in-law, and loyal friend to many. John was dearly loved by his family and friends. He will be missed and remembered with great affection by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be donated to: The Benedictine Community, or SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, 9900 St. Clair Ave., Fairview Heights, IL.
Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Benedictine Community Church, 726 Community Dr., Belleville, IL. 62223.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 11:15 a.m. at Benedictine Community Church, 726 Community Dr., Belleville, IL 62223, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.
Interment, with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy and the Polish American War Veterans, Caseyville, IL, will follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.
