Jerry L. Compton, age 79, of Caseyville, IL., born on December 28, 1945, in Gideon, MO, died on Monday, November 17, 2025, peacefully at his home with his family by his side.
Jerry was a United States Navy Vietnam War Veteran. He was a machinist with Luby Equipment in St. Louis, MO for over 30 years. Jerry loved fishing, boating, camping, shooting pool in leagues and he was an all-around grill master. He coached Khoury League baseball and Jaycee’s Raiders youth football in Collinsville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Emma, nee Brittan Compton; and his sister, Barbara Carkuff.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Margaret A. “Peggy”, nee Reay Compton; his children, Brian Compton of Caseyville, IL, Ann (Jake) Medeck of Webster Groves, MO, and Gary (Teresa) Beans of Millington, IN; 4 grandchildren, Olivia Medeck and Brody Medeck, and Stephanie (Jarod) Woods and Kristen (Blake) Smythe; 7 great grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Linda (Marv) Launhardt of Collinsville, IL; and his dear friend, Gary Lane of Caseyville, IL. He was our dear uncle and friend.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with burial of Jerry’s cremated remains with military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
