Jeannie A. Knopik, age 89, of Swansea, IL, born on March 24, 1934, in Richview, IL, entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 20, 2023, at St. Elizbeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL. Jeannie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

She grew up on a family farm and at the early age of seventeen, left to attend Brown’s College in St. Louis. She worked as a secretary for Laclede Gas. She met her loving husband, Ray, at a polka dance, and they spent 68 happy years together dancing across the Midwest.

She was a devout Catholic and always looked to God for guidance. Her faith in God and family was unwavering. She was an Altar Society Member and room mother for her children at St. Albert the Great.

She was a member of the St. Louis Metro Polka Club, a St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed bowling, arts and crafts, jigsaw and crossword puzzles and games.  She and her loyal friends held monthly card club for more than 65 years. She was always up for a good movie or a trip to a live theatre performance.

She was blessed with many wonderful qualities and treated everyone with respect and kindness. She was loving and welcoming to all and had a caring heart and a beautiful soul. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, delighting in the successes of her children and grandchildren.  She is irreplaceable and words cannot express how much she meant to so many - her guidance, warmth and comfort will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond R. Knopik; her parents, Emily, nee Winka, and Nick Borowiak; and her siblings, Marty Borowiak, Nick Borowiak, Richard Borowiak, Mariann Jankowski, Andrew Borowiak, and Angela Borowiak.
