Jeannette T. Barks

Jeannette T. Barks, nee Bihss, age 94, of Belleville, IL, born on June 16, 1929, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

Jeannette was a homemaker.  She was a member of Polish American Ladies Society (PALS), Polish National Alliance and Polish American War Veterans Auxiliary of Caseyville, IL.  Jeannette was a resident at St. Francis Assisted Living at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray E. Barks; her parents, John and Elizabeth, nee Krzymenski Bihss; her sisters, Stella Ratz, Cecelia Kuhlman, and Sabina Syzdek; her brother, Edward Bihss; and her brothers and sisters-in-law.

Jeannette is survived by her children, Kenneth (Doris) Barks of Granite City, IL, Raymond (Patricia) Barks of Belleville, IL, and Joan (Terry) Braxmeier of O'Fallon, IL; her grandchildren, Kris (Kathy) Barks, Shawn (Stephanie) Barks and Matthew Braxmeier; and her great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Kenaz, Kolin, Kyler, Tessa and Tristan Barks. Jeannette is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Francis at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows for their love and care during Jeannette's stay. 

Memorials may be made to St. Henry Catholic Church or to Poor Clare Monastery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.   

A procession will leave Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL, at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2024, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Kenneth York officiating.  Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
