Jean Green (nee Coleman)

September 11, 1936 – March 19, 2026

Jean Green, 89, of Collinsville, IL, passed away on March 19, 2026. Born on September 11, 1936, in Kennett, MO, she was raised by her beloved granny, Sara Jane Roberts.

At the age of 18, Jean moved to Fairmont City, IL, where she met the love of her life, Lonnie Green. They were married for 59 years and shared a life filled with love, raising two daughters.

Jean was a dedicated member of the Bluffview Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 60 years. She was a prolific writer of short stories and poetry, loved a clean house, and cherished the color teal.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Green; her parents, Virdie Coleman and Robert Fernimen; two sisters, Erin Pauline Coleman and Janet Lutes; and two grandchildren, Tyler Alvarado and Loni Leigh Alvarado.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her two daughters, Dawn (Greg) Alvarado and Kelly Green; two grandchildren, Drake McCann and Lindsey (Anthony) Tritsch; nine great-grandchildren, Zachary, Mia, Madilynn, Paisley, Damon, Austin, Alex, Ashten, and Aspen; and two sisters, Betty Tice and Shelia (John) McCoy.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Toni Hornick, Gestle Wheeler, Jill Geisen, Patty Koonce, Matt and Val, and the staff at Unity Hospice of Collinsville.

Visitation will be held at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL, on March 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with services immediately following at 12:00 p.m.

A private burial service will be held at St. John’s Cemetery in Collinsville, IL.
