Janet O’Brien, nee Leezy, age 71, of Troy, IL, born on March 24, 1955, in East St. Louis, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

Janet was a former preschool teacher and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Troy, IL.  She loved hosting events and cooking for her family.  Janet enjoyed table games, especially card games, old movies, collecting teapots and salt and pepper shakers. She also loved doting on her fur babies.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William J. O’Brien; her parents, Raymond and Helen, nee Buchholz Leezy; her sisters, Nancy Leezy, Carol Behrens and Joyce Brown; and her niece, Sunday Leezy

Janet is survived by her children, B.J. (Apple) O’Brien of Marthasville, MO, William (Lauren) O’Brien of Wentzville, MO, Kelly Williams of Fairview Heights, IL, and Kathy “Kat” O’Brien of Newton, IL; her grandchildren, William “Scott” O’Brien, Jr., BreAnna (Ethan) Jones, Dominick Williams, Gabrielle Budde, Jaxon G., and Austin Budde; her siblings, JoAnn Adams, Ray Leezy and Barb Leezy; her fur baby, Spot; and her grand fur babies, Biscoff, Angel, Penny, Rocky and Reeses.

Memorials are preferred to Alzheimer's Association or to Wounded Warrior Project.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL,

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.  Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
